What We're Looking For

This is an exciting time to join HNTB with opportunities to work on a variety of in-progress and upcoming transit projects in the Bay Area. HNTB is seeking an experienced, technically sound Project Engineer to work on transit and rail projects that could consist of alternatives analysis, rail corridor improvements and extensions. with a focus towards rail projects to work out of either the Oakland, San Jose or Las Vegas office.

The Project Engineer will be a part of the Rail department and will collaborate with project teams working on designs involving new high-speed rail track systems, light rail and commuter rail extensions, grade separations, trackway rehabilitation and/or realignment, and special trackwork design. The engineer will be accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects.

Primary Focus Will Include:

• Use primarily MicroStation with InRoads, or Civil 3D, and related software add-ons to deliver the transit and rail design projects.

• Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.

• Quality control within discipline

• Planning, design and construction phases of projects

• Completeness and accuracy of design team work

• Assists with project management duties

• Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• 6 or more years of experience in track design with an emphasis on railway, commuter, and transit projects

• Experience with special trackwork design

• Experience with Microstation and/or AutoCAD

• Knowledge in AREMA and TCRP guidelines for rail and transit.

• Excellent communication skills

• Collaborates well with others and effective team leader in fast paced environment.

• Knowledge of local agency transit and commuter rail corridors and standards

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering

• 6 years relevant experience
